Tulluu Simen
Escarpment, gelada baboons, and the trek that starts from Debark.
Simien Mountains National Park rises above Debark on the road north of Gondar. The escarpment drops more than a thousand metres. Gelada baboons graze on the plateau, and Walia ibex are the reason many people walk further in.
A scout from the park office is required. Day visitors can reach the Jinbar waterfall lookout and Sankaber. Trekkers overnight in camps toward Geech or Chenek. The nearest town with hotels is Debark or Gondar, so book Gondar if you want a proper room before and after the mountains.
